What's included

What decorative concreting covers

Exposed aggregate

Stones revealed in the surface for a textured, hard-wearing, high-end decorative finish.

Polished & honed concrete

Smooth, modern floors and surfaces with a subtle sheen, ideal for alfresco areas and interiors.

Architectural floating steps

Cantilevered concrete steps that create a clean, contemporary entrance or level change.

Feature slabs & benchtops

Bespoke concrete benchtops, hearths and feature slabs finished to your design.

What decorative concreting is

Decorative concreting is any concrete finished to look like a feature rather than a plain grey slab. The most popular is exposed aggregate, where the top layer of cement is washed back to reveal the stones set in the concrete, giving a textured, hard-wearing surface that suits driveways, paths and pool surrounds. Polished and honed finishes create a smoother, modern look for alfresco areas and interiors, and architectural floating steps add a clean, contemporary entrance.

The Geostone process

As an approved installer of Geostone Holcim, we prepare the area where the concrete is to be placed, then lay, spread, compact and finish it, including exposing the stone in the product to the manufacturer’s standard. Getting the preparation and timing right is what separates a decorative finish that lasts from one that doesn’t. You can read more about our Geostone approved installer accreditation and see the jobs we’ve completed with it.

Choosing the right finish

The best finish depends on where it’s going, how much traffic it gets and the look you’re after. We’ll talk you through the stone, colour and finish options, show you examples, and recommend what will hold up best for your situation.

Common questions

Decorative Concreting questions

01How much does exposed aggregate concrete cost in Sydney?
As a rough guide, exposed aggregate typically runs a little above plain concrete per square metre, with the final price depending on the area size, site access, stone choice and how much existing concrete needs removing. We'll give you a firm figure after a quick look at the job.
02Is exposed aggregate slippery?
No. The exposed stones give it natural grip, which is why it's a popular choice for driveways, paths and pool surrounds. A penetrating sealer keeps it looking good without making it slick.
03How long does a decorative concrete job take?
Most residential jobs take a few days from preparation to the final finish, plus curing time before you can use the surface. We'll give you a clear timeline with your quote.
04Do you help choose the stone and colour?
Yes. We'll walk you through the Geostone range and finish options so the result suits your home, and show you examples of what each looks like laid.
05Do you seal the finished concrete?
We finish and seal decorative work so it holds its colour and is easier to maintain. We'll also let you know how and when to re-seal down the track.
